Real-Time PCR Kit
SMA
A motor neuron disorder that affects the anterior horn cells in the spinal cord and results in muscle weakening and shrinking is known as spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The illness, which is quite uncommon in society, worsens with time, causing an increasing loss of nerve cells and muscle mass. Preventive medications help patients live better, longer lives by slowing the advancement of their disease and improving their quality of life. Researchers are working to develop novel therapies for SMA throughout the world.
For families dealing with the frustrating process of diagnosing SMA, Anatolia Geneworks has created a gene-based Real-Time PCR kit that reveals SMA risk in a premarital setting. Thus, people can safely plan their families before their babies are born by learning their carrier status and taking the necessary precautions.

SMA Detection Kit
Bosphore SMA Detection Kit v1 is designed to detect the presence and copy number of the SMN1 allele in both human whole blood and dried blood spot samples. The SMN1 allele is detected using the FAM filter. To demonstrate the proper functioning of the PCR reaction in cases where the SMN1 allele is not present, the kit also includes a primer-probe set that detects a reference gene in the human genome called GAPDH as an internal control. The GAPDH gene is used for relative quantification and is detected using the HEX filter.
