Fungi
Fungi are a diverse group of microorganisms that play a vital role in ecosystems but can also cause a range of infections in humans, particularly in immunocompromised individuals.
The genus Candida is one of the most common groups of fungal organisms responsible for hospital-acquired infections. It comprises more than 20 species. Infections caused by Candida are collectively referred to as candidiasis, which can be categorized into oropharyngeal candidiasis, vaginal candidiasis, and invasive candidiasis. Invasive candidiasis occurs when Candida species enter the bloodstream, leading to severe systemic infections.
Aspergillus, a genus of airborne fungi, is a natural ecosystem component. This genus includes more than 100 species, although only a few are pathogenic. These pathogenic species can cause hypersensitivity reactions, infectious diseases, and toxic effects when their asexual spores are inhaled. Aspergillus infections, collectively termed aspergillosis, include allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), chronic pulmonary aspergillosis, invasive aspergillosis, and skin aspergillosis. In immunocompromised or immunosuppressed individuals, including cancer patients and those with lung disease, Aspergillus infections can be life-threatening.

Fungi Kits
Bosphore Aspergillus Detection Kit v1 detects Aspergillus DNA in human biological samples, encompassing the most important genotypes of Aspergillus (Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus ustus, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus versicolor, Aspergillus glaucus, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus terreus, Aspergillus sclerotiorum, Aspergillus ochraceus, Aspergillus candidus, Aspergillus alliaceus, Aspergillus wentii, Aspergillus carbonarius, Aspergillus sydowii, Aspergillus oryzae, Aspergillus ficuum, Aspergillus silvaticus, Aspergillus nidulans, Aspergillus tamarii, Aspergillus proliferans, Aspergillus cervinus, Aspergillus restrictus, Aspergillus pseudoglaucus, Aspergillus sparsus, Aspergillus flavipes). The analytic sensitivity is 10 copies/µl. A region within the 18S ribosomal RNA gene is amplified and fluorescence detection is accomplished using the FAM filter.
An internal control has been integrated into the kit in order to check PCR inhibition. The amplification data of the internal control is detected with the HEX filter. The internal control is added in PCR step.
Bosphore C. albicans Detection Kit v1 detects C. albicans DNA in human biological samples such as blood, blood culture, epithelial cells, semen, urine, prostatic secretions. The analytic sensitivity is 100 copies/ml. A region within the Internal Transcribed Spacer 2 (ITS2) gene is amplified and fluorescence detection is accomplished using the FAM filter.
An internal control has been integrated into the kit in order to check PCR inhibition. The amplification data of the internal control is detected with the HEX filter. The internal control is added in PCR step.
Bosphore Candida Basic Panel Kit v2 detects and characterizes Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei and Candida parapsilosis in human biological samples. Fluorescence detection is accomplished using the FAM, HEX, Texas Red and Cy5 filters.
In the first PCR tube with PCR Master Mix 1, Candida albicans genome is amplified and fluorescence detection is accomplished using the FAM filter. Candida glabrata genome is amplified and fluorescence detection is accomplished using the Cy5 filter.
In the second PCR tube with PCR Master Mix 2, Candida krusei genome is amplified and fluorescence detection is accomplished using the HEX filter. Candida parapsilosis genome is amplified and fluorescence detection is accomplished using the Cy5 filter.
An internal control has been integrated into the kit in order to check PCR inhibition. The amplification data of the internal control is detected with the Texas Red filter in PCR Master Mix 1 and PCR Master Mix 2.
