Adenovirus
Human adenoviruses (HAdVs) are associated with acute respiratory disease (ARD), conjunctivitis, genitourinary infections, and gastroenteritis. Adenovirus is a very common infection and responsible for between 2% and 5% of all respiratory infections. It usually occurs during childhood but all ages are susceptible. In winter, infection with type 4 or 7 causes recognizable illness in military recruits, with about 25% requiring hospitalization for fever and lower respiratory tract disease.
AdV are usually transmitted via the fecal-oral route and the respiratory route. Close contact with infected people such as touching or shaking hands, inhaling the air by coughing and sneezing, touching an object or surface with adenoviruses on it then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes before washing your hands can cause the viral transmission.

Adenovirus Kits
Bosphore Adenovirus Quantification Kit v1 is, a Real-Time PCR based in-vitro diagnostic medical device, IVD CE marked according to 98/79/EC Directive. Bosphore Adenovirus Quantification Kit v1 detects adenovirus DNA extracted from the following human biological samples; serum, plasma, stool, cerebrospinal fluid; encompassing all adenovirus subtypes. A region within the hexon gene is amplified and fluorescence detection is accomplished using the FAM filter.
An internal control has been integrated into the kit in order to check PCR inhibition. The amplification data of the internal control is detected with the HEX filter. The internal control can be added either during DNA extraction or PCR step.
Bosphore EBV – Adenovirus Quantification Kit has been designed to detect, discriminate and quantitate Epstein – Barr virus (EBV / human herpes virus- 4 / HHV-4) and adenovirus (ADV) DNA in human biological samples including serum, plasma, bone marrow, amniotic fluid, urine, biopsy material, cerebrospinal fluid, throat / nasal / dermal / eye / genital swab, nasopharyngeal swab, nasopharyngeal aspirate and bronchoalveolar lavage. Fluorescence detection is accomplished using the FAM, HEX and Cy5 filters in two PCR tubes.
An internal control has been integrated into the kit in order to check DNA extraction, PCR inhibition and application mistakes. The internal control can be added either during DNA extraction or PCR step.
