The European Union ASF reference laboratory (EURL-ASF) Centro de Investigación en Sanidad Animal (CISA-INIA) announced the Bosphore ASFV Detection Kit v2 validation report.
The Validation Report shows that Bosphore ASFV Detection Kit v2 accurately detects all tested ASFV genotypes with high diagnostic sensitivity, repeatability, reproducibility, and perfect diagnostic specificity.
What is The African Swine Fever?
The African Swine Fever (ASF) is a highly contagious hemorrhagic viral infection caused by the African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) among domestic and wild swine. ASF doesn’t affect humans, but the virus can be spread to swine, by ticks and by consuming contaminated food products. In 2023, the National Pig Institute also stated that the virus could be transmitted between swine by direct and indirect contact with already infected swine or their faeces and body fluids.
Historically, the outbreaks of ASFV caused great damage to the welfare of industrial livestock animals and caused significant financial loss. As a measure to prevent these kinds of outbreaks and protect animals, frequent ASFV testing is very important. The swine population can be protected, and severe economic losses can be prevented by detecting the infection at early stages and isolating the infected animal from the rest of the stock.
ASFV Real-Time PCR kits like Bosphore ASFV Detection Kit v2 are an important diagnostic tool for routine scanning as they are quick, easy, economical, and accurate.
Bosphore ASFV Detection Kit v2 is a Real-Time PCR kit for research use that detects and characterises the major capsid protein p72 gene of African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) in swine samples.
The Validation Report of Bosphore ASFV Detection Kit v2 from EURL-ASF
Bosphore ASFV Detection Kit v2 correctly detected all the reference ASFV isolates tested.
The kit detected ASFV with 94.7% diagnostic sensitivity in infected or exposed animals compared with the reference method, the WOAH-UPL (World Organisation for Animal Health- Universal Probe Library) Real-Time PCR.
In the analysis of negative samples, Bosphore ASFV Detection Kit v2 successfully demonstrated perfect diagnostic specificity.
The validation results show that the Bosphore ASFV Detection Kit v2 demonstrates almost perfect agreement with the UPL reference method.
As Anatolia Geneworks, we are proud to announce that Bosphore ASFV Detection Kit v2 offers high diagnostic sensitivity, repeatability, and reproducibility for reliable diagnosis of ASF.
