Pioneering the Future of Diagnostics: International Day of Women and Girls in Science

In honor of International Day of Women and Girls in Science this week, Anatolia participates in the global community to praise all women and girls in molecular diagnostics and biotechnology. In line with the 2026 United Nations theme“From Vision to Impact: Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap,” we reaffirm our commitment to a scientific landscape where talent knows no gender.

In the rapidly evolving field of molecular diagnostics, diversity is more than mere metricity; it is the engine of innovation. From developing advanced Real-Time PCR kits to engineering automated extraction systems, the complex challenges of global health require the full participation of the brightest minds.

A Global Challenge

According to the latest UN reports, women still represent only one-third of researchers globally, and less than 10% in some countries. This disparity is often even more pronounced in high-tech manufacturing and engineering sectors. But why does this gap persist?

Experts identify several systemic barriers:

The “Leaky Pipeline”

Many girls start with a high interest in science, but social norms and a lack of visible role models often discourage them from pursuing advanced degrees or staying in the workforce.

Stereotypes and Biases

Deeply rooted cultural expectations often label subjects like physics, mechanical engineering, and mathematics as “masculine” domains, leading to a “confidence gap” rather than a skill gap.

The Matilda Effect

Historically, women’s contributions to science have often been overlooked or attributed to male colleagues, creating a cycle where young women see fewer success stories to emulate.

At Anatolia, we believe that “redefining STEM” starts with dismantling these barriers and fostering an environment where talent is the only metric for success.

Anatolia by the Numbers: Leading the Way

We are proud to share that Anatolia stands as a “good practice” example in the industry, with gender representation that significantly exceeds global averages:

  • R&D Excellence: In our Research and Development department, 48 out of 102 employees* are women. This near-parity (47%) in R&D is the driving force behind our diagnostic kits and instruments.
  • Company-Wide Impact: Across our global workforce of over 220 employees, women professionals make up approximately 40% of our team, a figure that significantly exceeds industry averages. * These experts play pivotal roles in every department, driving excellence in every department.

*Numbers represent the end of 2025 data.

For Anatolia, supporting women and girls in science is more than an annual celebration; it is a daily commitment. As we look toward a future where diagnostics are more accessible and precise, we celebrate the women at Anatolia and around the world who are making it possible.
